Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day Celebration
9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
The last family to live in the John Chads House was the African American family of Maryann Strand. They lived there for close to nineteen years before the house was purchased by the Chadds Ford Historical Society more than 40 years ago. The John Chads House is one of the Delaware County Historical Society's Passport to History sites.
Costumed Guides will lead tours of the John Chads House, c. 1725. Visitors will have a chance to see bread baking demonstrations in the house's unique beehive oven.
At the Barn Visitors Center, guests will enjoy a video and many hands-own activities. Refreshments will be served.
Admission to the John Chads House is $5 for adults. Tickets can be purchased at the Barn Visitors Center on the day of the celebration; members of the Chadds Ford Historical Society and children 12 and under are free.

Ticket: $10 per person
Exclusive Preview ticket holders will enjoy a first choice opportunity to purchase art.. All ticket holders will enjoy wine and cheese reception with the artists.and wet paint sale.

Presidents' Day Celebration
9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
In honor of George Washington and Abraham Lincoln's birthdays, the John Chads House will be open for tours. In 1777, General George Washington positioned his soldiers on the hillside next to the John Chads House, while a nervous widow Elizabeth Chads hid her silver spoons in her pocket.
Costumed Guides will lead tours of the little stone mansion that survived the Battle of Brandywine and tell about its fascinating history. Don't miss bread baking in the beehive oven in the cellar kitchen! Visitors can walk along the scenic one-mile River Trail from the Chads House to the Brandywine Museum.
Tours of the John Chads House are $5 for adults; members of the Chadds Ford Historical Society and children 12 and under are free. There will be many exhibits and special activities for children and adults at the Visitors Center, free of charge.
Barn Visitors Center, Meeting Room Rental
